This beautiful picture book combines the story of the Nativity with the magic of Santa Claus. An exhausted Santa falls asleep in the woods as he is preparing for the big day when he will deliver toys to children all over the world. As a pack of animals find him asleep against a tree, they worry about the impending holiday. Fox wonders aloud if there will even be a Christmas. And if Santa is so tired, who will deliver the toys and gifts to families everywhere? It is then that Santa wakes up to find the animals. He explains that he is not the real reason for Christmas but rather the birth of Jesus, the Son of God is what we should be celebrating. “Love was the gift God gave to us on the first Christmas, and it still is, you know. And this love is far better than any presents I can ever deliver.”
The story is accompanied by lovely watercolour illustrations in earthy tones. It is a story that can be read each year to remind our young families of the true meaning of Christmas.
