This now-famous team is back at it again with another stunning picture book. This one addresses the idea of liking yourself no matter what you do. The story is written using alternating points of view, from a boy’s perspective then from a girl’s. Through all of the events of a day the characters like themselves: when they get on the school bus feeling brave then when they are asked to speak in front of the class, even though they answer the question wrong. Despite running slow and being chosen last for the team at school, a smile still adorns the little girl’s face.
The detailed illustrations are incredible and will keep a child’s attention for hours. The overall theme of the book will be absorbed through osmosis as the title of the book is repeated on each page. Who could go wrong with a book that build’s a child’s confidence?
Curtis and Cornell have combined forces on other theme-based picture books: When I Was Small, Where Do Balloons Go?, Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born, Today I Feel Silly and Other Moods that Make My Day.
