The title says it all. In this brand new storybook, Billy Crystal has fully captured the essence of being a grandfather for the first time. Imagining the many things the pair will do together, the author knows he loves the child before they have even met. From playing peekaboo, to giving bear hugs, to tying shoes and studying for tests, he covers the gamut of childhood fun. In true Crystal style, he is also able to squeeze in a humorous verse about the New York Yankees (his favourite team of all time). While the opening of the book shows the expectant mother with her father’s ear to her belly, the last page reveals the three generations smiling widely.

Each page consists of one rhyming verse of the story complimented beautifully by watercolours done in pastel shades. My favourite illustration is of the grandchild and grandpa sharing a piece of messy spaghetti and looking into eachother’s eyes. The mutual admiration is apparent.
