Robert Munsch’s latest story is about a boy, Lance, who decides he wants to paint his face for Halloween this year rather than wear a mask. He figures the scariness he creates on his face will surely cause people to fall over when they see him. Of course there is a method to this madness for Lance. When the people who are so kindly handing out candy fall over, Lance helps himself to their stash of treats and winds up with the largest bag of candy ever. In fact, his bag is so heavy he needs a police officer to help him get it home.
In the true Munsch style, the story line repeats itself often allowing the youngest of readers to guess what happens next.
Martchenko’s comical illustrations are so detailed that little eyes will be entertained for hours. Each time they sit down to read this spooky Halloween tale they will see something new.
Munsch and Martchenko have collaborated on other popular picture books such as The Paper Bag Princess and Smelly Socks.
