The new baby, Jane, is brought home and Jim doesn’t like it one bit. The toddler is quite put out when no one has time to read him his favourite stories, make his special eggs or play his favourite games. When Jane is taken for a stroll, everyone wants to cuddle and kiss her. Poor Jim stands in the window of his bedroom watching and wishing for some of the attention. He is not used to sharing the spotlight with someone else.
One night Jim hears Jane crying and goes in to tell her what he thinks of her. Much to his surprise, Jane is pleased to see Jim and stops her crying. In fact Jane smiles widely at her brother. Before they know it, Jim and Jane are fast asleep together in the crib. Things are going to be okay with this new baby after all.
Although not all families experience this sibling rivalry phenomenon, it may happen and this book explains simply that as the family grows, there is a unique role for everyone in the family.
