Father’s Day is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate the day than with an adorable storybook. In this simple story, children spend time (the most precious gift of all) with their Dads doing everyday things like playing hide-and-seek, flying a kite, star-gazing, raking leaves and skating. There are different Dads and different children allowing readers to identify with certain characteristics of each of the children. The watercolour illustrations add to the humour of the situations in which Dad and child find themselves.
The author is efficient with her use of words which gives youngsters ample time to examine the pictures. If they examine close enough, they will notice that the book takes them from one season to the next through activities that happen in each of the four distinct times of the year.
Father’s Day is a day to be thankful for the special men in our lives. This little book is a great read-aloud that will encourage discussion between Dads and their babes all throughout the year.
