With an attractive cover, playful illustrations and good old-fashioned nursery rhymes, this book is just the thing for a new baby. Inside the padded jacket, which is bordered with gingham, is a collection of 22 of the most well-known Mother Goose tales. The text is complemented by illustrations, which are photographs of delightful embroidery work. As an added feature, the text includes key words shown in rebus style which encourages children to read along and interact, making them feel like they are the ones reading.

Such classics as Humpty Dumpty, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star are but a few of the featured verses.

Often these days new babies receive the more trendy books on the market while gift-givers bypass the old standby nursery rhymes as they are not deemed quite as “educational” (unless of course, Grandma has something to say about it…). As a result our preschoolers do not always know these rhymes. To me, this book is a hand-picked collection of the best of the best and ones that our kids would love to recite.
